Brook vs Spence Jr: Howard Foster named as referee for Kell Brook's IBF title fight against Errol Spence Jr
Tuesday 8 August 2017 17:17, UK
Howard Foster has been named as the referee for Kell Brook's IBF welterweight title fight against Errol Spence Jr, the IBF have confirmed.
IBF champion Brook defends his title against Spence Jr at Bramall Lane on May 27, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and Foster will officiate another high-profile fight in Britain.
The experienced official notably took charge of Carl Froch's first world title victory over George Groves in 2013, which saw Foster receive criticism after he swiftly stepped in to signal a stoppage in the ninth round.
Groves will appear on the same Sheffield bill as he battles Fedor Chudinov for the WBA 'super' title in a super-middleweight fight.
Foster has since overseen a number of other significant bouts in this country, including Anthony Joshua's successful IBF heavyweight title defence against Dominic Breazeale last June, and also hauled apart 'AJ' and Dillian Whyte when they clashed after the bell in their 2015 grudge fight.
The Yorkshireman recently took charge of Anthony Crolla's rematch defeat against WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares in March.
Watch Brook vs Spence Jr, from Bramall Lane, Sheffield, May 27, live on Sky Sports Box Office. You can book the event online here.
