Joe Calzaghe and Herol Graham discuss the pitfalls of life after boxing

Joe Calzaghe, Herol Graham and Spencer Oliver open up about coming to terms with life after the buzz of boxing

This week Joe Calzaghe and Herol Graham dropped into the Ringside studio to discuss the topic of depression within boxing. In a revealing and frank interview, both men open up about the difficulties of coming to terms with everyday life once the buzz of professional boxing has ended. Graham in particular makes some extremely candid admissions, revealing he attempted to take his life by cutting his wrists, so low did he feel at times after his career had finished. Even Calzaghe, who retired undefeated and on his own terms, acknowledges he struggled to adapt after hanging up his gloves having dedicated his life to the sport. The interview offers a powerful insight into how difficult it can be for fighters to get on with the lives once the bell has sounded for the final time.
