Re-live the action as Jesus Herrada won stage two of the Criterium du Dauphine

Jesus Herrada won stage two of the Criterium du Dauphine as Alberto Contador retained the overall lead.

The stage ended with an uphill sprint in Chalmazel-Jeansagniere and Herrada timed his acceleration perfectly to claim his first victory of the season.

Chris Froome finished two seconds later in eighth place after producing an impressive turn of pace.

Contador couldn't follow the Team Sky rider and crossed the finish line about six seconds later in 23rd, but because the pair were deemed to have finished in the same group, they were awarded the same time for the stage.

It meant Contador remained top of the general classification, six seconds ahead of second-placed Richie Porte and 13 seconds ahead of Froome.

Froome said: "In the last few hundred meters I felt good, so I pushed on and got a top 10. I've had good feelings so far and there's still a lot of racing to come this week. From the prologue and from today, I've got a good feeling about it."
