Mark Cavendish sprinted to his third victory of the Tour of Turkey and fifth of the season with a dominant display on stage four.

The 28-year-old Briton was given a textbook lead-out by his Omega Pharma – Quick-Step team-mates and won comfortably ahead of second-placed Maximiliano Richeze (Lampre-Merida) in Marmaris.

Cavendish, who safely crested a late climb at the head of the race, had four colleagues still in front of him entering the final 1.5km and had little trouble in finishing off their good work.

Fellow Briton Adam Yates (Orica-GreenEdge) finished in the peloton to consolidate second place in the general classification, still six seconds adrift of leader Rein Taaramae (Cofidis).

The 124.2km stage had earlier been stopped and then restarted after heavy rain made road surfaces treacherous and triggered a spate of crashes.
