Team Sky’s Peter Kennaugh will defend his title at the British Cycling National Road Championships in Lincolnshire later this month.

Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas, Lizzie Armitstead and Laura Trott are also included in a strong field for the event.

Kennaugh is hoping to retain the men's road race title he won in Monmouthshire last season, and he will be joined by Sky team-mates Thomas - the current Commonwealth champion - and Ben Swift.

Former world champion Cavendish, now of Etixx - Quick-Step, will be aiming to reclaim the title he won in 2013.

They will also be challenged in the 197.6km men’s race by Orica-GreenEdge's Simon Yates, who finished third last year behind Kennaugh.

The men's time-trial field is led by Movistar's Alex Dowsett, who currently holds the UCI Hour Record Sir Bradley Wiggins is attempting to break this weekend.

Wiggins won the time-trial last year but will not take part this time around, leaving Thomas and 2013 silver medallist Matt Bottrill as Dowsett's main rivals.

Storey is also among the favourites for the women’s time-trial following the retirement of last year’s winner Emma Pooley.

The road races on Sunday, June 28, will take the riders from Yarborough Leisure Centre, up the infamous Michaelgate cobbled climb before finishing in Lincoln's Castle Square.

Both time trials will take place on Thursday, June 25, across a 44.8km course, starting and finishing at the Cadwell Park Motor Racing Circuit.
