Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and co prepared for World Grand Prix on Sky Sports
Friday 11 November 2016 10:50, UK
The World Grand Prix returns to Sky Sports between October 2-8 – will we see the top names shocked again?
Robert Thornton emerged from Dublin with the winner's trophy last year, having completed an upset over world No 1 Michael van Gerwen in the final. But that's what the Grand Prix is all about.
The unique format, as explained by Sky Sports' Wayne Mardle, gives the established order a shake-up because it requires players to begin and end a leg on a double. Madness, as you can imagine, ensues.
Expect nine-darters! We've seen three in the competition's history, including Thornton and James Wade striking the perfect leg in the same match in 2014.
Van Gerwen, Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson and your usual favourites are all in action when the World Grand Prix arrives live on Sky Sports, starting on Sunday, until October 12 so don't miss out.
