Michael van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld, Robert Thornton in World Grand Prix action
Sunday 1 October 2017 15:58, UK
Michael van Gerwen is the main attraction on the opening night of the World Grand Prix.
The defending champion begins his latest defence from 7pm on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Arena, against John Henderson.
World No 1 Van Gerwen has won the top prize in Dublin three times (2012, 2014 and 2016) and will raise the curtain on this year's tournament by aiming to topple Henderson, who sits 32nd on the PDC Order of Merit.
Robert Thornton, also in action on Sunday, will provide Van Gerwen with an unwelcome reminder of how things might pan out on the Emerald Isle.
Thornton upset Van Gerwen in the 2015 final and opens this year's account against Kim Huybrechts.
Raymond van Barneveld is otherwise the most popular addition to the first night of arrows. The legendary Dutchman has never lifted this trophy, despite two runners-up finishes, but begins another challenge against Kyle Anderson.
Watch the World Grand Prix begin on Sunday, at 7pm, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Arena.
