Premier League Darts: Michael van Gerwen vs Peter Wright the standout match, live on Sky Sports
Thursday 8 February 2018 18:18, UK
Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright, the world's top two ranked players, collide as Premier League Darts hits Cardiff.
You can watch the world No 1 face the world No 2 on Thursday, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Action, from 7pm in the second week of the tournament.
Michael Smith vs Daryl Gurney
Talking point
Smith admitted that he was fortunate to beat Gary Anderson, who was injured, last week. Back-to-back wins, after returning to the PL after a disastrous 2016 season, would prove to Gurney how difficult a maiden season can be.
Two points on the board for me. It took me until the fifth week to get a [win], the last time I was here.

Rob Cross vs Simon Whitlock
Talking point
Since his stunning World Championship win, Cross has lost to MVG in his PL debut and exited twice in the early stages of Pro Tour Qualifying events. His form has suddenly dipped, and Whitlock is a far more seasoned campaigner.
It's only one game. Don't get me wrong, Simon is a good player and on results, he deserves to be in. He had a phenomenal game and, with this win, he leaves bad feelings behind him. It will give him great confidence. There is a long way to go.

Michael van Gerwen v Peter Wright
Talking points
World No 1 MVG is on the winning side of a 48-11 head-to-head against world No 2 Wright. An MVG win would suddenly leave Wright with just one point after two weeks.
It wasn't vintage Van Gerwen, but he did enough.

Some brilliant checkouts from MVG last week
Gary Anderson vs Gerwyn Price
Talking point
Gary Anderson lost to Smith last week and was visibly struggling with a back injury, which is becoming a long-term issue. The world No 3's hopes may rest on recovering from this injury.
I don’t feel happy that I won because of how Gary was struggling. I feel gutted because I feel sorry for Gary.

Raymond van Barneveld vs Mensur Suljovic
Talking points
Barney has reached the play-offs eight times - more than anyone except Phil Taylor (12) - and has opened this season with matches against two new boys. After a draw last week, there is pressure to win before the matches get tougher.
When he’s comfortable and confident he will be fine but sometimes, just sometimes, he looks out of his depth. I can’t read him.
