Premier League Darts: Gary Anderson 'getting there' after back complaint
Monday 12 February 2018 13:25, UK
Gary Anderson has explained that he is recovering from the injury that nearly forced his withdrawal from Premier League Darts.
The two-time champion was visibly in distress with a back issue last week during defeat to Michael Smith but there were few signs of any lingering problems when he beat Gerwyn Price on Thursday.
"I got back [last week] on Friday morning and went straight to the doctor," Anderson said. "Monday and Tuesday I was at the osteopath. A lot of stretching.
"It's getting there. It's about a lack of practice now - I had a good three hours on the board [before playing on Thursday]. It's getting there."
Anderson was able to diffuse the atmosphere in Cardiff on the Premier League's second night, where the home crowd favoured Welshman Price, despite not throwing his best darts.
"There were some wild ones - where I was looking, they were not going," he said. "I'm happy, and better than last week."
The 2018 Premier League heads to the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle next Thursday with coverage underway from 7pm on Sky Sports Action. Fourteen weeks of tungsten action will continue through to the season's conclusion with the Play-Offs on May 17 at The O2 in London.
