The World Darts Championship kicks off at the Alexandra Palace on Thursday night, as Rob Cross begins the defence of his crown that he clinched in fairy-tale fashion twelve months ago.

Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson are both bidding to win their third World Championship crowns, while five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld is set to make his penultimate Alexandra Palace appearance ahead of his impending retirement.
