Michael Smith and emerging Welsh star Jamie Lewis are first up in the best of five sets with No 8 seed Smith having won through following a battle of up-and-coming prospects against Gerwyn Smith in a dramatic sudden-death leg.

Lewis was a 2-1 winner over William O'Connor and this clash could well be a tough one to call.

Up next is Premier League semi-finalist Dave Chisnall up against former BDO World Champion Jelle Klaasen.

'The Cobra' Klaasen has rekindled the kind of form which won him the 2006 Lakeside title after coming from a set down to beat Northern Ireland's Brendan Dolan 2-1.

St Helens thrower Chisnall progressed after escaping from four missed match darts from Peter Wright to snatch victory.

Van Gerwen then takes to the stage to face Kim Huybrechts for a spot in the quarter-finals.

'Mighty Mike' began the defence of his title with a tight victory over hot prospect Keegan Brown and will look to continue his quest for back-to-back titles in the Emerald Isle, his third overall, with victory over the Belgian.

Huybrechts has already dispatched one Dutchman in Benito van de Pas to earn his first ever victory on the Citywest stage and with the Belgian ace having won four of the last eight meetings against Van Gerwen, including their Grand Slam quarter-final last November and a semi-final at the European Open in July, he will be looking to cause another major upset.

Adrian Lewis swept aside a tough looking opener against Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld with ease and now takes on Mark Webster in the final match of the night.

Webster was a 2-1 winner over Merseysider Stephen Bunting in the battle of the two former Lakeside champions, but may find it tough against Stoke thrower Lewis, who is purring along nicely.
