Stephen Bunting is hoping to avenge his whitewash defeat against Peter Wright when the pair meet again in the Premier League this week.

The St Helens man suffered a 10-0 loss at the hands of ‘Snakebite’ in this month’s UK Open, but this humbling result was just a blip for Bunting, who has revived his fortunes in recent weeks.

I can't take anything away from Peter, he's a fantastic player and he had one of those games.

He surged up to sixth place in the Premier League table after last week’s 7-3 win over Dave Chisnall and will next face Wright in Glasgow this Thursday, live on Sky Sports.

"I'm hoping that he doesn't beat me to nil again and I can reverse the tables this week - I'll be ready for it!" Bunting told the PDC.

"Straight after the game [in Minehead] it was gone out of my mind.

"If you'd taken me back three weeks it would probably have been devastating to me, especially off the back of some heavy defeats in the Premier League. But my confidence is there and it was just one game.

"I can't take anything away from Peter, he's a fantastic player and he had one of those games."

During a dismal start to the campaign, Bunting struggled to put a point on the board, but the in-form 'Bullet' is targeting a third successive win in Scotland.

"I've had a few hard weeks and obviously they don't get any easier, but I feel like I'm back playing some really good darts again," he said.

"I want keep climbing up the table and get as far away from relegation as I can. We all look at the table and it's down to us as individuals to push ourselves up the table.

"Confidence is a huge thing in darts, and when you've got confidence on your side you can win any game so it's down to me now to keep that confidence rolling and keep trying to do as well as I can."

You can watch this Thursday's Premier League matches in Glasgow from 7pm, live on Sky Sports 1.
