The Force looks to build on strong recent record
Justin Pipe says his fitness work has got him the best possible shape for the 2012 Ladbrokes World Championship.
'The Force' enjoyed a stellar run of form as he finished top of the Players' Championship Order of Merit with £44,800 banked and three titles secured and he reckons boosting his fitness has paid dividends.
The taste of success has given him the man from Somerset the desire to pick up more prizes with winning "a very good habit to get into".
"I've been working really hard on my game for the last eight months and I've stepped my practise up to four hours a day," he told
Skysports.com.
"You must keep fit to keep your mind fit and get the fight and battle in you. I can run four miles in 28 minutes so I'm quite fit.
"Some days you've got to dig real deep if you have to come back from 4-1 or 4-2 down and if you're not mentally fit you're not going to do that.
"It's paying off now as winning is a very good habit to get into."
Habit
Pipe only has one target at Alexandra Palace and that is to get through his first-round clash against Australian Sean Reed after losing 3-1 to Mark Walsh in his opening encounter last year.
"All I want to do is better than last year," he added.
"If I make it through the first round I will be happy.
"It's taken me a couple of years now to learn how to play on the floor and if I learn to play that big stage and it takes me a couple of years I will be happy.
"I learnt an awful lot last year so thank you Mr Walsh!"
