German looking to build on Malaysian success
Sebastian Vettel is looking to carry the momentum of his success in Malaysia into this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.
The 22-year-old German saw reliability issues deny him potential victories in the first two races of the season, but put those problems behind him to clinch victory in Sepang last time out.
However, those early failures mean that he trails Ferrari's Felipe Massa in the drivers' championship and the Red Bull man is determined to make up ground in China.
"We know we have a very good car but the other teams are always improving," Vettel stated.
"If you look at the world championship ranking, there is no gap, we are behind the others and we have to catch up. I hope that if we keep going as we have done in the last race, we can catch the others."
Vettel secured Red Bull's first-ever race win on the Shanghai International Circuit 12 months ago, while team-mate Mark Webber finished second for the team's first one-two.
The German is regarded as the man to beat this weekend and, while hopeful of claiming back-to-back trimuphs, he acknowledged he would be satisfied with a podium finish.
"It will be tough to beat Mark (Webber) again and then you've got all the others again - Ferraris, McLarens and Mercedes as well," he continued."In theory, you can win the title without winning races.
"Finishing second or third is a good result, it's not as good as winning, of course, but you still get quite a lot of points and in the end, the one that did the best job overall becomes world champion."
