Former Lotus Racing reserve moves to Group Lotus-backed team

Former Lotus Racing reserve driver Fairuz Fauzy has been handed the same role for the Group Lotus-backed Renault F1 team in 2011. The 28-year-old Malaysian, who started his F1 career as a tester with Spyker in 2006, spent last year as reserve driver for Tony Fernandes' team. In addition to his F1 commitments, Renault F1 also confirmed that Fauzy will compete in GP2 for Super Nova Racing in a car backed by Group Lotus owner Proton. "I want to thank Lotus Renault GP for giving me this opportunity," Fauzy said. "It's a real honour to be part of a top team that has achieved so much in the sport and it's something any driver dreams about. It feels especially exciting because of the new partnership with Lotus and I'm very proud to be here at the start of a new era for the team. "It's also a great opportunity for me to improve as a driver and learn as much as I can about Formula One so that hopefully one day I can be on the grid myself."
