Brazilian refusing to get carried away by encouraging start
Felipe Massa is refusing to get carried away despite an encouraging start to the new Formula One season.
The Brazilian currently tops the standings for the drivers' championship after the opening three races while his Ferrari team lead the constructors' table.
And although Massa has yet to win a race so far this year, he has finished on the podium twice while he was seventh in the Malaysian GP.
But despite picking up 39 points to lead team-mate Fernando Alonso and Sunday's race winner Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull by two, Massa insists he is not looking too far ahead.
"All things considered, we did a good job in these first three races, as proven by the fact we lead both championships," he said.
"However, there are still 16 races to go and we know there is much room for improvement in terms of car performance and in making it totally reliable."
Fight
Massa clinched seventh in Sepang after finally getting the better of reigning champion Jenson Button.
And the 28-year-old believes there will be more similar fights ahead before anyone can claim the title.
"The duel with Button was very complicated," added Massa.
"Down the straights, he could always pull away, but when he made a mistake at the final corner, I was able to get close enough to overtake under braking for the first one.
"The (Malaysian Grand Prix) proves the need to fight on every lap of the Championship.
"We have a lot of work to do, so we must keep focused and not lessen our efforts."
