Spanish team stage official opening of new premises
HRT officially opened their new team headquarters in Madrid on Friday.
Drivers Pedro de la Rosa, Dani Clos and Ma Qing Hua were on hand together with Team Principal Luis Pérez-Sala and the Mayoress of Madrid, Honourable Madam Ana Botella.
The team hope that the premises, in Madrid's Caja Mágica, will be the final piece in the jigsaw in their attempt to become the first Spanish-based Formula 1 team.
Now in their third season, HRT have always been Spanish-owned. However, they have mainly been based in Germany under the auspices of former Team Principal Colin Kolles.
Kolles departed late last year after the decision was taken by HRT's current owners Thesan Capital to move their base to Spain.
Sala, who took over from Kolles, said: "We're extremely proud to have finally opened our doors to everyone and have shown what, since a few months ago, is HRT's home.
"It's been a lot of hard work but it's a dream that has finally come true and an exciting project. This is the present but we continue to work looking ahead to the future to make this a top level sporting and technological centre and surely, with the help of everyone, we will achieve this".
De la Rosa added: "It's a pleasure to share such an important moment for the team with all of you. We're satisfied because we've reached one of our targets which was to have modern and functional facilities like the ones at the Caja Mágica.
"And we've achieved it. We're on the right path to consolidate ourselves and gain confidence and competitiveness."
