Lewis Hamilton has given an enthusiastic endorsement of plans to host a night-time race around the streets of Moscow after starring at a motorsport show in the Russian capital this weekend.
Although the country is due to host its inaugural grand prix in 2014 at the coastal resort of Sochi, a race run with the iconic Kremlin as its backdrop has long been mooted.
Speaking after bring the fifth Moscow City Racing event to a close on Sunday in the MP4-27, Hamilton welcomed the idea of adding the venue to the F1 roster:
'I've seen some images of Moscow at night and it looks absolutely spectacu-lar, so I think having a night race here one day as we do in Singapore would be one of the highlights of our season," he told RIA news agency.
It certainly seems as if Moscow itself wowed Hamilton. He later tweeted: "Probably the most stunning building I've ever seen, St Basil's in Moscow."
