Paul di Resta has confirmed that Anthony Hamilton, the father of Lewis, is no longer his manager but refused to elaborate on the reasons behind the split.

Scottish driver insists his focus is purely on racing issues

Paul di Resta has confirmed that he has split from his manager Anthony Hamilton, the father of Lewis, although refused to expand on the reasons behind the ending of the relationship. The Daily Telegraph revealed on Wednesday that the Force India driver was now without a manager, reporting that "it is believed that the break-up, which happened some weeks ago, was not planned and the situation between the pair remains delicate". Di Resta, during his apperance in Thursday afternoon's FIA press conference at Silverstone ahead of his home British Grand Prix, was asked the inevitable question about the reports and confirmed he and Hamilton had indeed gone their separate ways. "I think everything's been said that had to be said. I'll confirm we're not working together," he said. But asked to clarify what the reports had been, di Resta simply replied: "I think it's been reported that we're no longer working together and that is the matter at the moment." Although not explaining the reasons behind the split, di Resta, in response to a later question, insisted his sole focus was on the season ahead rather than management issues. "At the moment I'm just fully focused on my racing," he said. "At the end of the day it's the results that count for me and what's going to drive me forward. We've had a good year up until now and we've got to continue that progress and the focus this weekend is to have a good race." The timing of Hamilton's exit comes ahead of a potentially important time in Di Resta's early F1 career with the Scot, who has continued to impress so far this season, linked with drives at both Mercedes and McLaren for 2013 should seats become available at either team over the winter.
