As a contemporary of the likes of Juan-Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn during the very early years of the Formula 1 World Championship, Britain's Tony Brooks was part of one of the most revered, and talented, generations the sport has ever witnessed.

Maranello beckoned for 1959 and although two further wins in France and Germany followed, along with further podiums in Monaco and Sebring, Australia's Jack Brabham beat him to the title by four points and his brief Ferrari career came to an end. What turned into the final two years of his career provided precious few highlights although fittingly Brooks, still only 29, finished with a flourish back at BRM in 1961 with a third place on his very final appearance at Watkins Glen.
