Ron Dennis said he was "disappointed" by Fernando Alonso's refusal to deny that McLaren had doctored his car.
Team boss wishes Alonso was "more direct and open"
Ron Dennis said he was "disappointed" by Fernando Alonso's pointed refusal to deny that McLaren-Mercedes have favoured Lewis Hamilton by changing the set-up on the Spaniard's car.
Pressed to comment on the allegations during a press conference on Thursday, the world champion simply replied: "Difficult question...I will not answer."
Reports have since been published claiming that Alonso 'has been saying as much privately for some time.'
And, having repeatedly reiterated that McLaren would not and have not favoured either Alonso or Hamilton, the latter's failure to publicly defend the team's integrity has predictably irked Dennis.
"This is a straight fight and I'm obviously disappointed that someone who really has all the knowledge should not be more direct and open with the response," the McLaren boss told a press briefing.
"There are numerous equality clauses in our contracts, they are reciprocal. We never have, never will and certainly are not favouring either driver at the moment."
