Brazilian intends to see out his contract with Honda
Rubens Barrichello has insisted that he will be racing for Honda again next season, despite rumours suggesting the team are considering replacing him.
Barrichello has had a disappointing time since joining Honda from Ferrari at the start of the 2006 F1 season.
Despite scoring 30 points last season, the Brazilian failed to finish on the podium while his team-mate Jenson Button achieved the feat three times, including a maiden victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
And this year, while Button has scored eight points in a championship that has seen Honda consistently struggle for pace, Barrichello has yet to register.
The lack of return has led to suggestions that Honda might look elsewhere next season, leaving 35-year-old Barrichello with little choice but to retire from F1.
Speculation
But, ahead of his home race, Barrichello refused to be bowed by the speculation, saying he has a contract with Honda for 2008.
Asked whether this weekend's Brazilian GP could be his last race in F1, Barrichello told
Autosport: "I think that's very much impossible unless I have a problem myself.
"I think people are just trying to create noises right now - I have a contract for next year. I'm driving well, so it shouldn't be a problem.
"I have signed a paper, the team has agreed on terms, so I don't think there's anything to speculate.
"I've been working on the future of the team and there's a lot of things happening right now, so I think it's just silly comments."
