Young German's "maturity and approach" should be rewarded, says Scot

David Coulthard has named Sebastian Vettel as the man he thinks should take over his seat at Red Bull next season. The Scot announced last week that is retiring from Formula One at the end of 2008 after some 15 seasons spent in the top flight. And, when asked by the official formula1.com website to recommend a replacement, Coulthard plumped for the 21-year-old German. "For me Sebastian Vettel has everything that a future winner in Formula One needs," Coulthard said. "Also his maturity and approach shows that he is the best man for the job. "So I am very confident that he would be able to do a very good job for Red Bull Racing." Vettel is currently racing for Red Bull's 'junior' team Toro Rosso and is arguably the most obvious candidate to partner Mark Webber in 2009. However, any promotion might be halted should Renault's double world champion Fernando Alonso become available and express an interest in the Renault-powered team. Coulthard's last British Grand Prix ended on the opening lap at Silverstone on Sunday when he collided, perhaps ironically, with Vettel. Of his retirement decision, the 37-year-old added: "I am very happy to stop well before the enjoyment does, rather than wishing I was somewhere else."
