Timo Glock was unharmed despite hitting a concrete wall at high speed during the German Grand Prix on Sunday.
The German was taken to hospital after his Toyota suffered a right-rear suspension failure exiting the final corner on lap 36 of the race at Hockenheim.
His car spun and slammed rearwards into the pit wall, with the safety car brought out as marshals cleared away the wrecked TF108 chassis.
The driver appeared winded and, after pausing by the circuit to catch his breath, Glock was taken to the track's medical centre.
And, although he was later taken to hospital for precautionary checks and will remain there overnight under observation, Toyota confirmed he appeared uninjured following the shunt.
A team statement read: "Timo is fine and there are no physical signs of injury. He has been taken to a hospital for further precautionary checks.
"Further updates will be given as soon as they are available."
