Force India are likely to be suspended by the Formula One Teams' Association after they lodged a separate entry for 2010.

Mallya's team lodge own entry for next year

Force India are facing a suspension from the Formula One Teams' Association after they submitted a separate entry for the 2010 world championship. Williams have already been suspended by FOTA after they lodged an unconditional entry to the FIA due to contractual reasons. All nine remaining teams subsequently entered their cars for next season on the condition that certain new regulations, such as the budget cap, will not be introduced. However, it is understood that Vijay Mallya's team broke ranks and lodged their own official entry. FOTA vice chairman and Toyota Motorsports president John Howett revealed that they are likely to join Williams in being suspended from the association.

Talks

"It's likely they may be suspended," he said. "I haven't really had the opportunity to speak to Vijay directly. "He has submitted, in accordance with FOTA, a conditional entry. But apparently, because of other binding legal activities due to funding or other issues, they needed to submit an official entry. "He (Mallya) will be here tomorrow, and I will speak to him then, but I have to say I think it is the intention of FOTA to suspend them based on a face-to-face discussion with Vijay. "But he has confirmed to me, through (deputy team principal) Bob Fearnley, he is totally supportive and committed to FOTA." The FIA plan to announce the 13 teams that will compete in the 2010 Formula One season next Friday.
