Championship leader blames BrawnGP for poor qualifying
Jenson Button admitted his championship lead will disappear quickly if he continues to have poor qualifying sessions like the one that sees him start 14th on the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix.
Button starts the race 18 points ahead of BrawnGP team-mate Rubens Barrichello but with the Brazilian starting from the second row at Spa, his advantage looks certain to be cut.
The Englishman won six of the first seven GPs of the season to set up his long lead in the drivers' championships, but has taken only 11 points from the last four races.
And he believes the car is not performing as well as earlier in the season, although he hopes aggressive tactics in Sunday's race will see him recover some lost ground.
"It's a lead that's going to disappear very quickly if I keep on having bad weekends," he said. "At the moment I can't do anything about it.
"Tomorrow is going to be a tough day. Nothing matters except points for me.
"I think the race pace will be OK so we are going to try to do something a bit different from everyone else, not just hang back and hope for the best. We're going to be aggressive.
"We have a couple of weeks before Monza and hopefully we can find out the reason. The car doesn't feel like it did earlier in the season."
