German driver expects to be back in action at Brazil

Toyota have decided to withdraw Timo Glock from the Japanese Grand Prix after he suffered injuries in a crash during qualifying. The German sustained a 5cm cut on his lower left leg as well as back pain having smashed head first into a tyre wall during Q2. He was taken by helicopter to a local hospital in Yokkaichi, although x-rays confirmed that no serious damage had been done. However, given his injuries the team ruled Glock out of the race at Suzuka on Sunday. He is, though, expected to be fit for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Not possible

"Together with my physio I tried everything to be fit for the Japanese Grand Prix but in the end it is not possible for me to race," said Glock. "It is a pity to miss Toyota's home race and I'm annoyed that this happened. "I want to say thanks to my car crew because they worked all night to fix the damage and get it ready for the race. They did a great job but unfortunately I can't race, however I am sure I will be back in Brazil." Race stewards rejected a request to allow test driver Kamui Kobayashi to replace Glock, meaning Toyota have just Jarno Trulli left on the grid.
