British star happy with his effort in securing second place
Lewis Hamilton hailed one of his "strongest races of the season" after his second place in Korea.
The Briton failed to gain the victory he craved, but for half of the 55-lap race the McLaren star delivered an impressive performance under pressure.
He kept Red Bull's Mark Webber behind him for lap after lap to nail down second place behind race winner and world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Back on the podium for the first time in six races, Hamilton finally awarded himself a pat on the back following plenty of self-criticism of late.
"This was one of my strongest races of the season," said Hamilton.
"There was so much pressure from Mark behind and it would have been easy to make a mistake, lock up or go wide.
Satisfied
"But I'm really satisfied that I didn't do so once. I believe that withstanding pressure is the mark of a world champion, and I think I showed that in this race."
McLaren's team principal Martin Whitmarsh was gushing in his praise for Hamilton.
"I think Lewis' drive was utterly inspirational," said Whitmarsh.
"He may be downplaying it because he's a perfectionist and wanted to win.
"But to withstand such enormous pressure, for lap after lap from a faster car, was a drive absolutely worthy of the great champions.
"His finishing position may only go down in the history books as another second place, but make no mistake, this was a fantastic drive, beautifully assured and perfectly judged."
