A brand new venue for 2012, the Circuit of the America's in Austin, Texas will host Formula One's return to the United States. Lots of work is still to be done to the circuit if it is to be ready in time for the penultimate race of the season. The track plans look impressive with an elevation change of 133 feet, over the state of the art 3.4-mile track. The steep climb from the start into a turn 1 hairpin could make the United States Grand Prix exciting from the start. The track takes inspiration from Silverstone with a replica of the Maggots, Becketts, Chapel. Turkey's turn 8 also makes an appearance as does a stadium section similar to the Motodrom at Hockenheim. With a capacity of 120,000, the new venue will provide a much-needed purpose-built modern race track in the United States, where oval tracks are the norm and road courses such as Infineon Raceway (formally Sears Point), Watkins Glenn and Laguna Seca are unsuitable for the F1 circus.
