McLaren driver favourite to become first double winner of 2012

Lewis Hamilton is 11/4 favourite with Sky Bet to win the European Grand Prix and become the first driver to break a remarkable record this season. The opening seven races of the season have seen seven different winners and after finally breaking his win duck in Montreal, the McLaren driver is targeting a consistent run to win his first world crown since 2008. The 27-year-old is currently 6/4 favourite to win the title ahead of Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, who are both available at 3/1. Hamilton will face stiff competition from World Champion Sebastian Vettel who is eyeing a hat-trick of victories at Valencia this weekend (4/1) to get his title bid back on track. Vettel has won the race for the past two years after finishing on pole and he is available at 14/1 to qualify fastest, win the race and set the fastest lap in the process. There are just three points separating leader Hamilton from third-placed Vettel in the overall standings, but Ferrari star Alonso must also be considered in the equation. The Spaniard is 7/2 to win on home soil and has looked in excellent form this season despite Ferrari struggling to produce a consistent drive. Red Bull failed to make the podium for the fourth time this season at the Canadian Grand Prix and despite concerns, some voiced publicly by Alonso, the Ferrari leader could be worth a look.

Contenders

Outside of the main contenders, Romain Grosjean is 11/4 to make the podium after finishing second in Canada. The French driver has secured two podium finishes this season, but four retirements make him a risky wager. Sky Bet F1 trader Dave Pilgrim said: "Lewis Hamilton will be delighted to finally end his win-less streak and he now looks well-placed to continue his winning run this weekend. "Punters have been piling into the Brit to extend his lead in the Championship and it remains to be seen if Vettel can respond."
