One striker signed, another offered terms

Norwich City have confirmed the signing of their former striker Paul McVeigh. The Northern Ireland international has returned to Carrow Road for a second spell after he departed Luton Town. McVeigh enjoyed a seven-year stint in Norfolk from 2000 to 2007, and now he makes a quick return to East Anglia. "I'm absolutely delighted, I never expected to get a contract when I came back, it was purely to be training and keeping my fitness up. I'm delighted the manager has offered me a contract now," said McVeigh. "I think the club is completely set up to be in the Championship if not the Premier League. With the stadium, training ground and fans, if the manager can get things in place on the pitch, hopefully we can get the job done." Meanwhile, Canaries boss Bryan Gunn has confirmed he has also offered a deal to Serbian striker Goran Maric, who has impressed while on trial with the club. "We've made Goran and his representative an offer," said Gunn. "I think he has got other offers on the table and he is currently thinking about those and ours. "I think he is in Belgrade at the moment nursing his injury." But fellow trialist Michael Bridges will not be offered a deal, with Gunn adding: "I've decided not to take Michael's situation any further. "I've spoken to Michael's agent and I've received a nice text from Michael to say thank you for giving him the opportunity."
