Grimsby are in talks with two unnamed players about moves to Blundell Park.
Mariners manager Neil Woods gave little away other then to reveal that the players in question are a midfielder and a striker.
Woods, known to be keen to add some experienced heads to his squad, said: "We have been tracking several players.
"But we have had a couple of knock backs in recent weeks, so we won't be counting our chickens."
Meanwhile, former Hibernian striker Tam McManus has left the club following a trial.
