Chesterfield have signed former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Shane Redmond on a month-by-month contract.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international was released by the Championship club this summer. The 21-year-old joined Forest in July 2006 has had loan spells in League Two with Burton Albion and Darlington. Redmond has been called up to the Ireland squad for their UEFA Championship qualifier against Estonia on Tuesday 10 August and will therefore be unavailable for the Spireites' Carling Cup first-round clash with Middlesbrough.
