Carlisle makes Gulls return

Midfielder Wayne Carlisle has agreed to rejoin Torquay after first leaving the club at the end of the 2009/10 season.

The 30-year-old played a starring role in the club's return to the Football League via the play-offs in 2009 and started 25 games for the Gulls last season, scoring twice. But he became a free agent at the end of the 2009/10 campaign after concerns over a series of niggling injuries led to him not being offered a new contract. However, Carlisle continued to train with the Gulls and has now, after holding discussions with boss Paul Buckle, agreed to return to the club. Buckle told the club's official website: "Wayne has worked very hard over the last couple of months and is looking fit and sharp, we had a good, long chat about his future and it's great news that he has agreed to come back. "A fit Wayne Carlisle is a big asset to this football club. He is very popular with the supporters and I'm sure that will be shown when he is back involved with the team."
