Cheltenham have been dealt a blow with the news captain Michael Pook could be facing as many as six weeks on the sidelines.

The midfielder was forced off just before half-time in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Bradford with a calf injury. Senior sports therapist Ian Weston told Town's official website: "It's early days yet with Michael but we could be looking at up to six weeks until he is back. "Obviously we'll be hoping to have him back in training quicker than that but we'll have to see how the injury settles down." On a more positive note, David Bird is rated as 50/50 to make Saturday's home clash against Port Vale having picked up a slight hamstring problem in training at the end of last week. Martin Riley, who has been sidelined for just over seven weeks with a hamstring problem, is expected to return to training later this week and striker Wes Thomas (thigh) is looking at early November for his first-team return.
