Bulls and Tykes end Thompson deal

O'Neil Thompson has seen his contracts with Barnsley and Hereford terminated by mutual consent.
The Tykes defender was on a season-long loan at Edgar Street but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by, making six starts and one substitute appearance over the opening 16 games of this season. And with the Jamaica-born 27-year-old stressing his desire to move back to his homeland, both Barnsley and Hereford have opted to cancel their existing deals. Bulls caretaker manager Jamie Pitman told the League Two club's official website: "O'Neil has been unsettled for some time and we thought it best for everyone if we came to this agreement. "Everybody at United wishes him the very best for the future." Thompson, a Jamaica international, moved to Barnsley for an undisclosed fee from Norwegian side Notodden FK in August 2009 but made just two appearances during his time at Oakwell. He also made two outings for Burton during a loan spell at the Pirelli Stadium last season.
