Gills boss releases striker

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler has released forward Bruce Inkango after his current contract came to an end.

The Frenchman's three-month deal with the Gills ended after the postponed fixture with Chesterfield on Saturday and Hessenthaler felt Inkango didn't show enough to warrant a contract extension. "Bruce only started one game during his time with the club and we really needed to see more from him than he showed us out there on the pitch," Hessenthaler told the club's official website. "Finances only played a part in the decision because we have Andy Barcham coming back from injury and he is a strong contender for the shirt on the left side of midfield. "Bruce is a fantastic lad. He always trained and played with a smile on his face."
