Youngster signs pro deal

Teenager Matthew D Carr has signed a professional contract with Oldham Athletic for next season.
The 18-year-old has agreed a one-year deal with the view to a 12 month extension should he impress this season. Carr, who joined the Latics at the age of 11, played two first-team matches during pre-season last summer. The centre-back will now look to break into the first-team and hold down a regular place. "It means everything to me and it is my reward for working hard," Carr told the club's official website. "It looks as though we will have a smaller squad and a young one so hopefully I will get my chance, take it and kick on."
