Carlisle boss Greg Abbott has urged trialist Stuart Green to impress in their pre-season games if he wants a permanent deal.

Green is a free agent following his release from Wycombe in May but the 30-year-old is unlikely to be earn a contract at Brunton Park unless he can win over his potential new boss. Abbott told the Carlisle News & Star: "Stuart has been a good player and he might surprise everybody. "I've told him he is on the back foot because we have already filled the midfield positions, but we will look after him if he needs to train. "If he blows us away with some of his performances in training, then who knows. You can never say never in football."
