Rotherham manager Andy Scott has challenged Jeff Smith to earn a permanent deal at Don Valley after taking him on trial.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who played in Belgium last season, was included in the Millers' first pre-season game against Grimsby on Saturday and impressed Scott. "Jeff can play wide left or left-back and he fitted in well," Scott said. "He will be involved again on Tuesday and will come to Portugal with us and then we will chat to him and his representative and see if he has done well enough to earn himself a contract."
