Ellison makes Brewers exit

Striker James Ellison has had his contract at Burton Albion terminated by mutual consent.

Albion have reached a settlement on the remaining seven months of Ellison's deal to bring an end to the 20-year-old's Pirelli Stadium nightmare. Ellison joined the club in July 2010 with hopes of establishing himself as a first-team regular after being released by Liverpool. But he failed to make an impact on the pitch and had problems off it, including suffering stab wounds in an incident outside a Merseyside night club. His Burton career amounted to three substitute appearances before a series of loan deals at Stafford Rangers, Hednesford Town and Alfreton Town. More recently, Ellison has been on loan at Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division pacesetters Chester, but he has still to make his full debut for the club. Albion boss Paul Peschisolido said: "It was sensible to agree a deal to release James because it just hasn't worked out for him here."
