Morris fit to visit Cobblers

Southend have received a boost with the news goalkeeper Glenn Morris will be fit for Saturday's trip to Northampton.

Morris dislocated the little finger on his left hand diving at the feet of Port Vale striker Marc Richards during the second half of the Shrimpers' 3-0 victory at the weekend. Having had his finger put back in place on the pitch and with no replacement stopper on the bench, Morris - making his first appearance since late October when he was forced off with a thigh injury against Torquay - completed the remainder of the encounter at Roots Hall. And despite requiring protective strapping to the area, he is expected to be okay to feature at Sixfields on Saturday as second top meets second bottom in League Two. Southend go into the encounter knowing victory, or even a draw, could see them move to the summit of the table depending on the fortunes of promotion rivals Crawley and Cheltenham, who faces Bristol Rovers and Aldershot respectively.
