Risser eyes Shots opportunity

Wilko Risser is hoping to get more game time over the coming matches to show manager Dean Holdsworth what he can do.

The Namibia international striker, brother of Swindon midfielder Oliver, penned a short-term contract with Shots on Monday having arrived as a free agent. Risser immediately made his debut in Tuesday night's 1-0 home victory over Hereford, replacing matchwinner Guy Madjo as an 80th-minute substitute, and now the 29-year-old is looking for more action. "I'm very pleased to be playing for Aldershot and hopefully I will get more time in the next few weeks but that will be up to the gaffer. I want to be here to prove myself and we shall see what happens," Risser told the club's official website. "I want to help the club to greater prospects. "My agent called me to say that Aldershot were interested about 1pm in the afternoon. I booked a flight straightaway. I had heard of Aldershot. My brother plays for Swindon so I do know about the division. I have watched Swindon a few times this season. "It is competitive at this level. England is a new prospect for me and I am happy to try it. It was pleasing to be well received by the supporters on Tuesday evening. There are a lot of matches coming up. Playing games is what it is all about. This is a team sport. I am here and I want to do everything I can to play for Aldershot."
