Tunnicliffe set for return

Crewe have decided against the option of renewing James Tunnicliffe's loan spell from Wycombe.

The central defender joined the club in February but made only two appearances after picking up a shoulder injury. That problem now requires surgery and as a result, manager Steve Davis will not be extending Tunnicliffe's spell at Gresty Road. However, the Alex manager has not ruled out a return for the defender once he has recovered from his surgery. "James has gone back to Wycombe to have his operation," Davis told the club's official website. "With his injury, there didn't seem any real point in extending his loan, but it is still something that could happen in the future."
