Oldham have re-signed Oumare Tounkara on loan from Sunderland, where he has been out-of-favour since returning at the end of last season.

The 21-year-old striker, who scored seven goals in 46 appearances for the Latics during a season-long spell at Boundary Park last term, has joined Paul Dickov's side until the end of the current campaign. Manager Dickov was delighted with his latest acquisition and paid tribute to Tounkara's parent club for making the move possible. "I would like to say a big thank you to Sunderland, and Martin O'Neill in particular, who have been fantastic," he told Oldham's official website. "I had looked to bring Oumare back earlier in the season but that was not possible financially. But Sunderland have looked after that side which has now made it possible. "Oumare needs to be playing games so hopefully the loan will benefit both parties."
