Coid: Form will ensure deals

Defender Danny Coid has urged his Accrington team-mates to concentrate on results in order to secure their long-term futures.

Injured skipper Dean Winnard and Luke Joyce are the only members of the Stanley squad with contracts guaranteed for next season, and Coid admits the situation caused no shortage of anxiety when Paul Cook replaced John Coleman as manager last month. "When the gaffer first came in people were on their toes a little bit and were worrying too much about what's going to happen if they have a bad game, does that mean they're not going to be here next year?" the defender told the Lancashire Telegraph. "But the lads are really settled now." Saturday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dagenham ended a five-match unbeaten run and former Blackpool man Coid is eager for another run of positive results before the end of the season. "I've been in this situation quite a few times and contracts do come into your mind," he added. "If you make a mistake on the pitch you think, 'Oh no, is that going to affect me? Can I get out of it, can I correct my mistake? I had a bad game today, does that mean he doesn't like me now?'. "But I think the lads have just got to worry about results. That will help everyone."
