Promoted club York City have completed the signing of midfielder John McReady from non-league outfit Darlington.

McReady has signed a two-year deal with the Minstermen, who secured promotion to the Football League via the play-offs in May. The 20-year-old appeared in 37 games for Darlington last season, scoring two goals, one of them an impressive strike in a 2-2 draw against York at the Darlington Arena. McReady is the Minstermen's third summer signing following the arrival of midfielder Lee Bullock and striker Oli Johnson, released by Bradford and Oxford respectively.
