Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill is optimistic that Irish trialists Mark Hughes and Jordan Keegan will sign for the club this week.

The pair both impressed coming on as substitutes in Friday night's 1-1 home draw with a Manchester United XI. "I think we're really close with them," Knill told the club's official website. "It's not quite signed, but we've got some draft contacts and it's just a matter of time really. Hopefully it will all be done early this week. "For 19, they are pretty good players and showed no fear whatsoever. Both came on and really wanted the ball. They did well and they're ones for the future."
