Stephens happy with partnership

Barnet defender David Stephens believes his partnership with Krystian Pearce can be the key to solving the Bees' defence.

An average of two goals conceded per game has seen Mark Robson's side languish at the bottom of League Two with just two points from eight matches. Half of that tally was earned against promotion hopefuls Rotherham on Saturday, which came thanks to Barnet's first clean sheet of the season - a stat Stephens, who along with Pearce moved to Underhill in the last month, hopes to improve over the coming weeks. "We (Stephens and Pearce) are doing well together and we both complement each other," the 22-year-old told the Barnet and Potters Bar Times. "So we are delighted that we got our first clean sheet and hopefully we can build on it. "I think that for the team and the fans it is very important we kept our first clean sheet. I think the supporters can see that at times we have defended well but it hasn't been consistent. "So we have now set a standard and hopefully now we can continue from that. I just want to keep as many clean sheets as possible this season and hopefully in doing that I can help the team climb up the league table."
