Rowett challenges Albion duo

Image: Zander Diamond: Still crucial to Brewers' cause

Gary Rowett has challenged Zander Diamond and Stuart Tomlinson to prove their worth to Burton after being dropped against Wycombe.

Defender Diamond and goalkeeper Tomlinson were left out of the side following the 7-1 mauling at the hands of promotion-rivals Port Vale on Friday and the Brewers ended their four-match winless run with a comfortable 2-0 win to move into the top three. And Rowett has told the pair that they still have a big role to play as the club aim to secure promotion. "They've been brilliant for us all season, both of those players," he told the Burton Mail. "We've conceded 10 goals in two games so it doesn't take a genius to work out that we probably needed to do something about it. "We just felt one or two took a battering in the 7-1 defeat and were maybe short of confidence. "But those two players are going to be crucial for us as the season goes into the last few games and they've just got to react in the right way."
